Monbazillac, Domaine de l’Ancienne Cure
Description
Fifth generation winemaker Christian Roche inherited part of this property in 1984, and five years later he decided to build his winery and really set up shop as a specialist sweet winemaker in the region. In his constant quest to develop better wines, and noting that conventional farming practices impoverished soils and the quality of these wines, he decided to return to fundamentals. respect for the land and the plant. The culmination of this process was the decision to convert the entire property to Organic Farming. This aromatic and complex sweet Monbazillac is blended from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle and is among the best of the region. It’s a rich, sweet ‘liquoreux’ wine with aromas of dried fruit and honey. It can be drunk as an apéritif or with blue cheese or fruit desserts.
